eForum:
Alternative Distribution And Marketing
Welcome to the eForum on Alternative Distribution and Marketing. For every film released by a major studio or television network, how many more never see the light of day? Why does this happen? What are the roles of the Internet, of independent theaters, of digital cinema, of independent marketers, of film festivals, etc. -- now and in the future? This eForum will explore some of the successes and failures in alternative distribution and marketing. Through collective brainstorming and proactive discussion, participants will hopefully identify new solutions to the distribution challenge that have a high likelihood of being successfully implemented.
As time goes by, we will be adding new members to the eForum and perhaps open up the conversation on select topics to special invited guests. As we proceed, we may find that there are natural affinity groups, with special reasons for collaborating separately.
This eForum will be facilitated by Alex Rapp, Spartacus Media Enterprises staffer, film writer/producer, and co-organizer of the Woods Hole Film Festival. Alex handled logistics for and many of the technical aspects of "Investing in Media that Matters" in Sundance, January 2003.
